Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health threat in Indonesia due to the high population of the Aedes aegypti mosquito vector. The increase in DHF cases is strongly correlated with low community awareness of Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) and inadequate management of household water storage containers. This community service program aims to educate and empower the community in DHF prevention efforts through health education and the distribution of Abate powder. The implementation methods included a preliminary survey, health education, practical demonstrations, Abate powder distribution, and program evaluation targeting 50 households in Gegelang Village. The program's success was measured cognitively via pre-test and post-test assessments, and psychomotorically through independent observation. The results indicated a highly significant increase in community health literacy, evidenced by a surge in the participants' average knowledge score from 58 to 87. Furthermore, practical evaluation revealed that over 90% of the participants were able to apply Abate powder to their water containers with the precise dosage. In conclusion, this educational and abatization intervention is proven effective in modifying community behavior toward independent mosquito larvae control. The sustainability of this preventive program is expected to be maintained through the synergy between local health cadres and village officials.
