Peningkatan Literasi Kegawatdaruratan Stroke melalui Edukasi Metode F.A.S.T pada Pengunjung Poliklinik Penyakit Dalam RSI Ibnu Sina Payakumbuh

Blood circulation disruption to the brain during a stroke can trigger rapid hypoxia and neural tissue necrosis. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health, treatment delays cause the destruction of approximately 1.9 million brain cells per minute, making swift and precise medical intervention crucial for therapeutic success and patient prognosis. This community service program aimed to improve public knowledge and awareness regarding the early detection of stroke emergencies using the F.A.S.T (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) method at the Internal Medicine Polyclinic of RSI Ibnu Sina Payakumbuh. The activity was implemented through an interactive educational approach encompassing material presentations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The effectiveness of the education was evaluated using pre-test and post-test questionnaires administered to 20 participants (10% male and 90% female). The evaluation results demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge enhancement across all material indicators, including: understanding of stroke definition (26.6%), stroke classification (32%), identification of F.A.S.T signs (31.4%), the urgency of the golden period (30.6%), emergency initial management (28%), and preventive measures (26.4%). In conclusion, structured health education is proven effective in elevating public health literacy and preparedness for stroke emergencies. Healthcare professionals are encouraged to consistently optimize their promotive and preventive roles to mitigate the burden of stroke morbidity in the community.
